On 10th April, all the Trust’s cattle, including the new bull, Horatio’s Harvey, were inoculated by Philip to protect against liver fluke and other internal parasites.
They still have hay and some fodder beet remaining. Therefore, until their faeces and urine are more or less clear of the inoculum — which is potentially harmful to dung beetles and other ground dwelling invertebrates — they will stay longer in the cattle barn.
After this period, they will return to Simpson’s Fromus Valley Reserve. This will certainly happen by Open Day on 23rd April.
