The blackthorn buds are ready to burst. Visit next week — at the end of March, or into early April — and you can expect to see these bushes white with bloom.
Across the Fromus stream, blackthorn is marching into the pasture. A decision is needed — as Guardians, should we protect every inch of the Mediaeval meadows, or could we allow a blackthorn thicket to develop, losing our stewardship grassland acreage, but perhaps permitting the spread of nightingale habitat? How best can we balance conservation objectives?
