First of all, a welcome to our new Trustee Mrs Adele Georgiana Cullen, better known to us as Janey, whose appointment was announced at the AGM on 18th January. Please congratulate her on being willing to take on this responsibility, on top of her existing tasks as Hon. Membership Secretary and as Co-editor of the Guardians' annual publication — the 2019 book, "Wilding and Well-being", is an outstanding success. Copies are still available at £14, incl. P&P to UK addresses.
Then, our main herd of rare breed British White cattle — four cows, one bull and two calves — now yarded at Hall Farm, Great Glemham, are enjoying quality hay and baled haylage, generously donated. We have also bought a load of fodder beet, which they relish as additional 'bait'. In the foreground of the picture (top), see the curly head of friendly Drakkar, proud father of calves. At his farm, herdsman Philip Baskett is looking after the remainder of the herd: our home-bred prize-winning young bull, Fromus Premier, together with a newly weaned young heifer and a bullock. British White cattle owners may like to know that we are open to offers to buy Fromus Premier who, last summer (2019), was Champion at the South Suffolk Show (lower picture), and 2nd in the breed class at the Royal Norfolk Show — many thanks to Philip for his skilled training and handling.
